Opening Prayer

Of one thing I am certain - every human being
reveals something of God...
a spark of divine light shines
from each one of us...
every human being has been
taken up into the heart of God,
conferring on them an infinite divinity.

Purple Class News

The Purple Class have had a busy start to the second half of the year. This term during our MITIOG sessions we are learning about ‘Personal Space’. We have learned that our personal space is like an invisible bubble that surrounds us and makes us feel safe. If we enter someone’s personal space they may feel anxious, worried or uncomfortable. We should keep an arm’s length away from another person at school and in the community so everyone will feel comfortable. We used hoops to represent our personal space bubbles.

The students are learning about ‘Money’ during mathematics lessons. They are learning that money is what people use to buy goods and services such as food, clothes, toys, presents, experiences and a house and when people work they earn money. We will be looking at our Australian notes and coins along with their value, and that often people use a card to pay for their goods or services rather than cash. It is important for them to know that most things cost money and if we want to buy something we need to have money.

For art the Purple Class students used marbling inks to create a paper quilt and some beautiful bows on white ribbon. Marbling is a method of decorating paper or fabric to imitate marble and other stone where colour is suspended in a thickened liquid and manipulated into various patterns. The students presented their colourful bows at our school assembly.
