Opening Prayer
Dear Lord,

We pray for young mothers, who give life and count toes and tend to our every need; may they be blessed with patience and tenderness to care for their families and themselves with great joy.

We pray for our own mothers who have nurtured and cared for us;

Opening Prayer
Dear Lord,

We pray for young mothers, who give life and count toes and tend to our every need; may they be blessed with patience and tenderness to care for their families and themselves with great joy.

We pray for our own mothers who have nurtured and cared for us; may they continue to guide us in strong and gentle ways.

We remember mothers who are separated from their children because of war, poverty, conflict or the current pandemic; may they feel the loving embrace of our God who wipes away every tear.

We pray for women who are not mothers but still love and shape us with motherly care and compassion.

We remember mothers, grandmothers, and great grandmothers who are no longer with us but who live forever etched in our memory, with love.

Amen.

From The Principal
Dear Families,

Welcome back! Term 2 certainly looks a little different to what we were expecting a few weeks ago and that is something to be grateful for. It has been so good to have the students returning and getting back into the routines of school, catching up with their friends and reconnecting with their teaching teams. It was really nice to see the smiles on your faces as well!

We are continuing to have very strict measures in place to maintain the health and safety of all and we are grateful for the support you have given in relation to this. As we continually hear in the media, things are going extremely well in South Australia but we must not become complacent and that is our motto here as well.

Last week we held our school assembly using the Microsoft Team Video Meeting App so the students could stay in their own rooms but still participate in assembly. We had a great time and the students were loving seeing each other on the screen. We will continue to do this so that we can maintain social distancing as much as possible and have some fun along the way.

This term Sean Perry has joined the St Pat’s community as the Acting Assistant Principal replacing Chris Lemon who is on long service leave. You may have already seen or met Sean out on gate duty, he is the one that is slightly taller than me! Sean comes to us from Sacred Heart College where he held the position of Learning Support and Transition Coordinator. He has extensive experience and expertise in Special Education and he is already working closely with staff to develop the new Personalised Plan for Learning which will replace the IEP. It is a much more comprehensive document that can be constantly updated and reviewed. In line with this we are also looking at the curriculum and how we continue to differentiate it to meet the individual needs of the students. Sean is taking a lead role in this process and will be providing you with information in the coming weeks. Welcome Sean!

I want to extend my gratitude to you all for the positive support and feedback you have given throughout this challenging time. You have been so quick to respond to emails and keep me updated about your child’s return to school which has enabled me to plan staffing and other resources in a timely way. The partnership with you is truly appreciated.

Some of our students who experience some greater challenge with their health needs have not yet returned but we all extend our thoughts, prayers and best wishes to you and hope to see you back soon.

Please know that you can contact me any time if you have any questions or concerns.

Wishing all the Mothers and special women in your lives a truly beautiful day on Sunday.

Stay safe and well.

Kind regards,

Cathy

Road Safety Training
Last term Christina Swain from RAA (Teacher Mentor, Road Safety) visited St Pat's to provide road safety education for students at school. Christina provided 30 minute lessons for classes on the importance of keeping safe whilst riding tricycles, bikes, walking or travelling in a vehicle in the community. Christina spoke about how important it is to “Stop, Look, Listen, Think” when out in the community and needing to safely cross the road. Some key messages Christina spoke to students about include:

  • Always wearing a helmet when riding
  • Always wearing a seat belt and keeping safe whilst in the car
  • Always “Stop, Look, Listen and Think” before crossing the road
  • Always get into and out of a vehicle from the pedestrian side, not from the middle of the road.

Since Christina’s visit we have purchased new road signs and traffic lights to support student learning when riding tricycles at school. If you would like any more information regarding the road safety training, please contact Kylie on 8332 1555 or kkavelis@stpats.catholic.edu.au.
